The Fédération Européenne du Négoce de Bois FEBO was founded in 1962 as the “Association des groupements du négoce intérieur du bois et des produits dérivés dans les pays de la C.E.E” (AGNIB). The associaton adopted its new name in 1990. The trade formerly grouped together under FEBO was purely internal. The europeanisation of markets, and their increasing globalisation, now mean that the previously regional trade is nowadays more and more active in the import sector. The former clear distinction between importing and internal trade is becoming ever weaker. |
|
13 countries with 14 national federations are member of the FEBO: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland. All in all about 3'500 European timber trade companies with more than 200'000 employees are represented by the FEBO. Their total yearly earnings reach almost 35 billions Euro.
