The Fédération Européenne du Négoce de Bois FEBO was founded in 1962 as the “Association des groupements du négoce intérieur du bois et des produits dérivés dans les pays de la C.E.E” (AGNIB). The associaton adopted its new name in 1990.

The traders formerly grouped together under FEBO operated on a purely national domestic market. The Europeanisation of markets and their increasing globalisation has brought the previously regional trade more and more activities in the import sector. The former clear distinction between importing and internal trade is becoming ever weaker.

11 countries with 12 national federations are member of FEBO:

Austria, Belgium, Denmark,  Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy,  Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland.

FEBO  represents all in all about 3'130 European timber trade companies with a total of 145'000 employees. Their total annual turnover exceeds 28 billion euros.
